The process usually starts out with us playing records. We gain inspiration from the grooves and it leads us to the creation of the beats and rhymes. This time we decided to create the songs over the originals with no chops or rearrangements. The result is The Stuyvesant Chronicles. With the exception of 'Rise Up' all of the music is exactly the way you would hear it on the original artists' album. With that being said we wanna pay homage to the greats that inspired this project: Brief Encounter, Bob James, Dorothy Ashby, 24 Karat Black, DeRobert and the Half Truths, Black Heat, David Axelrod, Galt Macdermot, Gary Burton, Marc Moulin, Brian Bennet and Idris Muhammad. From Bed Stuy to wherever you are we hope you enjoy this humble offering from two guys that love to make Hip Hop music. Shout out to all of the family who contributed: Jessica Care Moore, Quadir Lateef, Skyzoo, Patty Crash, and Fred Da Godson. Much respect to y'all for believing in the music we're making. Salute.
